From Ben Samels, Feb. 4, 1996Daniel Scofield was a minister here in Williamsburg for 35 years. He officiated at the wedding of Frank Samels. Said he could marry any couple here or in Canada. His wife has 10 or 12 children, and most of his daughters died of TB during their child bearing years. The task of having children and care of them weakened them (the daughters), then TB set in.

b. 10 May 1822 NY, daughter of Nicholas (Place) Grey and Laura Clark; married Daniel B. Schofield 1 May 1847; resided in Wheatland, Hillsdale 1850; Adams, Hillsdale 1860 and Whitewater Twp, Traverse City, Michigan and died 14 Oct 1891 in Williamsburg, Grand Traverse, Michigan.

We are advised that Mrs. Scofield, wife of Reverend Daniel Scofield of Williamsburg, passed away on Wednesday. Funeral plans have not been announced.
